Since Facebook opened its Forest City Data Center, Rutherford County Schools Education Foundation has been proud to partner with Facebook on projects and activities that support and advance our school system’s STEAM initiatives around Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. Over the years, Facebook has invested $700,000 towards projects and activities throughout Rutherford County Schools. We have seen firsthand the powerful benefit of marrying corporate support to emerging school initiatives, and we have personally experienced the significant difference that partnership makes in our schools and community.
RCS’s longstanding commitment to overcoming barriers through technology, to creating powerful experiences through digital learning, and to providing our students with innovative experiences in STEAM education is reflected in so much of our work, and has also helped us to raise the bar for student achievement. During our ongoing planning discussions, we’ve recognized and acknowledged the pressing need for a dedicated, high-quality STEAM lab at each school throughout the district as we work to ensure that every student graduates prepared for college and career success. Through a partnership with Facebook, Rutherford County Schools Education Foundation has allocated $450,000+ to build and launch new STEAM labs in all eighteen schools over the next two years.
